Residential
Schneider & Associates handles all phases of residential construction from the simplest one room addition to the new construction of the largest and most complex mansions. We take the time necessary to listen to the clients needs and visions in order to produce a written blueprint of the project long before designs ever take shape on the computer. This approach allows us to quickly focus on what the client wants and helps eliminate the need for a lengthy schematic design process.
When renovating or adding to an existing home, the first step involves conducting a survey of the existing structure. We then take this information and convert it into an as-built drawing of the existing structure. The as-built drawings documents the existing structure which allows us to accurately integrate a renovation or addition into an existing building. They also serve as a basis for beginning the schematic phase, in which the clients needs are transformed into two dimensional floor plans and elevations. Between the schematic floor plans and elevations, the client can better understand what the completed renovation/addition will look like before it is ever built. Upon approval of these schematic drawings, construction documents are then produced so that the client may obtain construction permits and bids from contractors.
When dealing with an addition to an existing home, the firm prides itself with being able to seamlessly integrate the addition into the existing structure and style of the home. This is important since most home owners do not want the addition to look like an “afterthought” when compared to the existing building.
When designing new custom homes we can begin designs from scratch, or from rough sketches or photographs provided by the owner. The style of the house is also very important as it determines the character of the home. Schneider & Associates has designed homes in a variety of styles ranging the full spectrum from Contemporary to Queen Anne Victorian. Whatever the client’s desires for a new home, Schneider & Associates will work with them to clarify the design issues regarding floor plans, elevations and details, and will educate them about the design and construction process along the way.
